It's good to...
...play.
The best part of photographing children is capturing their personalities, and what easier way to do this than when they are at play, magical unstructured play.
I love to see children using and developing their imagination and creating their own worlds and toys from nature rather than relying solely on adult direction and shop bought toys. I believe it is through play that children, even from a young age engage, learn and interact with the world around them. All these outdoor skills can be transferred into a formal learning environment when they start school. They need the opportunity to use their whole bodies, to challenge themselves, learn risk and release the vast amount of energy they can have. For me.... the positive impact has been good sleepers, which means a happy mummy!
So, get yourself out with your own camera and play. Use the natural light to your advantage and if your out and about, look for interesting places and natural materials to enhance their play. As the magic unfolds...snap away and capture those memories in mother natures big playground.
